Navigating outer space is a key issue for European sovereignty in defence and an important factor in furthering competitiveness and economic growth. France and Germany, both leaders in this sector, published national space policy strategic papers in November 2025 which feature a similar analysis.

What can both countries do to make best use of these assets and contribute efficiently to their shared goal of strengthening European sovereignty? What do France and Germany need to improve, to achieve the best results, and where can they make a difference?
