A presentation by Alessio Terzi (University of Cambridge). This event is part of the Sustainability Colloquium hosted by the Centre for Sustainability.
At this colloquium, Alessio Terzi will present his research on how climate change could reshape the global distribution of wealth and geopolitical power over the course of the 21st century. Drawing on GDP projections for 164 countries under different climate and geopolitical scenarios, the paper explores how climate damages, productivity shifts, and demographic change may alter the balance between major economic blocs such as the US, China, Europe, and emerging economies. The discussion will also examine how rising geopolitical rivalry could amplify climate-related economic losses and contribute to a more fragmented global economy.
Following the presentation, attendees will have the chance to discuss and ask questions. This session will be moderated by Christian Flachsland.
