Anniversary Debate: Climate Justice – From Negotiations to Real Action: What Needs to Change?

Diese Veranstaltung liegt in der Vergangenheit.

As the Robert Bosch Academy enters its 10th year, join us for the first event of our special series “Anniversary Debates” to discuss some of the most pressing challenges of our times and to join hands in finding solutions.

International forums such as the COP discuss the issues of climate mitigation, adaptation, finance, and justice, and setting goals. But they have little to do with their implementation. The current targets are non-binding, which was necessary for the Paris Agreement to win international acceptance. But peer pressure alone is not enough to achieve real action.

In the current scenario, the trajectory of the planet temperature is going to overshoot the 1.5 degrees target with devastating consequences everywhere in the world, with the most vulnerable suffering the severest effects. In terms of attitudes and actions, what needs to change to expedite climate protection?

Together with our three panelists we will discuss visions for a reform of a climate governance structures and ideas on how to create a system that supports a just and fair transition under the current circumstances.

Some of the questions include: What needs to change in order to move forward meaningfully in terms of addressing climate change and climate justice? How can the COP model be improved so that it drives change from multilateral agreements to purposeful national action? How to expand community empowerment and agency in these processes? What events and milestones give you hope?
