Disinformation Congress

Diese Veranstaltung liegt in der Vergangenheit.

As we witness the proliferation of disinformation in today’s media landscape, the need for a concerted effort to combat this growing menace has become more urgent than ever. The European Congress on Disinformation and Fact-Checking serves as a crucial platform to address this pressing issue. We welcome you all to the 1st European Congress on Disinformation and Fact-Checking, focused on the theme of „Disinformation Across the EU-Ukraine Media Landscape.“ This event, organized in collaboration between Madrid University Carlos III and StopFake Ukraine, aims to foster cross-border dialogue, promote knowledge sharing, and develop innovative strategies to combat disinformation and strengthen fact-checking practices.

By bringing together leading experts, scholars, journalists, policymakers, and practitioners in the field, we seek to create a platform for robust discussions, critical analysis, and the exchange of ideas. Through interactive sessions, engaging workshops, and thought-provoking panel discussions, we aim to explore the multifaceted dimensions of disinformation, its impact on the media landscape, and the challenges it poses to our democratic societies.

The war in Ukraine has intensified disinformation, including around the topics connected to the European Union. Russian propaganda is actively discrediting the EU, trying to undermine democratic values and the existing order, as well as to impact EU support for Ukraine. This project is a set of research, educational activities and knowledge transfer aimed at strengthening the capacity of EU and Ukrainian fact-checking organizations, public authorities, EU policymakers, universities, and NGOs. We aim to improve fact-checking skills and awareness among fact-checkers, improving media literacy, media education and capabilities to expose and counter disinformation among the general public, fact-checkers and journalists.
