Kick-Off Meeting of the NEBHUB 2050 and Liveable Cities Network

NEBHUB 2050 & the Liveable Cities Network bring together cities, organizations, practitioners, researchers, artists, and communities who share a common ambition: to shape more resilient, liveable, and inclusive urban futures across Europe.

NEBHUB 2050 builds on a strong legacy of citizen-centered urban innovation. Emerging from the UrbCulturalPlanning project (2019–2021) and further developed through initiatives such as Cultural Pearls, Liveability, CCC, UrbCitizenPower, and Rural Cultural Planning, NEBHUB 2050 reflects a shared commitment to co-creation, regenerative placemaking, circularity, and public-interest design and is rooted in the values of the New European Bauhaus sustainability, aesthetics, and inclusion.

The Liveable Cities Network initiated within the Liveability Project is a non-fee-based, collaborative platform. It creates a space for connection, experimentation, and mutual learning, where participants can exchange experiences, discuss challenges, and explore innovative approaches to urban transformation.

Through quarterly online meetings, the network fosters collective learning on topics such as governance, civic participation, circularity, creativity, resilience, and long-term neighborhood development. Building on the Liveability Design Approach and related design methodologies, the network supports systemic and participatory urban change.

Originally initiated with a focus on the Baltic Sea region, the network now welcomes participants from across Europe, offering a collaborative framework for new ideas, partnerships, and initiatives to emerge.

Together, NEBHUB 2050 and the Liveable Cities Network function as living laboratories of collaboration, learning, and transformation, empowering cities and communities to reimagine what truly liveable urban futures can be.

We look forward to welcoming you to this first gathering of the network.
